Did you know that veterans account for 11% of the homeless population in the United States?
This season, David Starns Insurance would like to donate $10 on your behalf to help provide respectable housing and services to Kansas City veterans in need.
The Veterans Community Project (VCP) is on a mission to eliminate Veteran homelessness by providing transitional-housing and enabling access to all-encompassing assistance programs. VCP recently completed the first phase of their tiny houses project that provides 240-square-foot homes to veterans who otherwise would be on the street.
In fact, last month the ribbons were cut and the first thirteen tenants moved into the tiny homes now known as “Veterans Village”.
In contrast to traditional homeless services, a tiny-home provides the Veteran with privacy, a sense of security, and the ability to reintegrate at a comfortable pace. Veteran services are facilitated through an onsite community center that provides the Veterans with mentoring, case management, counseling, and linkage to other programs and services.
“We are proud to support our local servicemen and eager to help eliminate veteran homelessness in our community by sponsoring dignified housing solutions,” says David Starns, agency owner.
Currently, the Veterans Community Project relies entirely on donations to build these tiny homes and they are striving to reach their goal of 50 tiny homes.
This is where you can help.
By recommending a friend or family member to our agency, we can make a $10 donation in your name to help ensure all veterans in our community have shelter and assistance.
Join the #AgentsOfChange movement and let’s make a difference for local veterans. Together we can change lives!
